Utility Advisory Board Meeting Minutes for June 21, 2016
MOUNTAIN IRON UTILITY ADVISORY BOARD
MINUTES
TUESDAY JUNE 21, 2016
The meeting was called to order at 4:03 p.m. by Chairperson Renzaglia. Members present: Reynold Renzaglia, Bruce Peterson, Joe Matanich and Susan Tuomela. Others present: Michael Downs, Public Works Director, Rodney Flannigan, City Engineer, and Lisa Stevens, Accounting Technician. Not present: Harvey Hellyer, Joe Prebeg, Council Liaison.
It was moved by Tuomela and supported by Peterson to approve the minutes of the April 20, 2016 meeting. The motion carried unanimously.
No one was present at the public forum.
The Director of Public Works reported that another water main had broken which made it the 2nd one of the winter and spring.
The large trash/spring clean summary of the costs and earnings were mentioned. The Director of Public Works noted that the summary sheet didn’t include wage expenses so instead of a $1289.58 profit it actually cost the City about $3,817.00. The Board agreed that this is a good service for the City to allow to the citizens.
The Director of Public Works mentioned the adapters for the Type A meter bases seem to be working and are what customers are opting to utilize instead of changing out their actual meters. They haven’t had any negative feedback on them.
The Board noticed that the City Council had approved the Payment Service Network system to be implemented and questioned whether it was discussed to utilize it for payments other than utilities. Mike Downs noted that it will eventually be available for payments such as the campground and building rentals.
The next meeting was scheduled for July 26, 2016.
At 4:30 p.m., it was motioned by Tuomela and supported by Peterson to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried and the meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
Lisa Stevens
Accounting Technician
