MOUNTAIN IRON UTILITY ADVISORY BOARD

MINUTES

TUESDAY, JANUARY 31, 2017

The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Chairperson Renzaglia.  Members present:  Reynold Renzaglia, Joe Matanich, Bruce Peterson, and Susan Tuomela. Members not present: Harvey Hellyer.  Others present:  Michael Downs, Public Works Director, Tim Satrang, Lead Wastewater Operator, and Lisa Stevens, Accounting Technician.

It was moved by Joe Matanich and supported by Bruce Peterson to approve the minutes of the January 31, 2017 meeting. The motion carried unanimously.

No one was present at the public forum.

The Director of Public Works reported 2 incidents of broken waterlines over by Bluebell Avenue. There are usually 4 guys sent when fixing the waterline breaks and gets charged directly to the water treatment plant. Virginia assisted in locating the break in the ground.  

Tim Satrang, Lead Wastewater Operator, discussed, again, on items that are needed for the wastewater and water treatment plant. They ordered mag beam for the water treatment plant and 50% was paid for by a grant. He also talked about buying a new water meter that would be more accurate for reporting the water usage to the State of Minnesota that is required every February which is also helped paid for by a grant.

Renny asked Tim about capital outlay as it shows that we had more expenses than revenues. Tim responded that most of the expenses are going to be reimbursed by grants but we are still waiting on a few of them to help offset that gap between revenues and expenses. Renny requested that the board get breakdowns of capital outlay projects going forward.

No new business.

The next meeting was scheduled for Tuesday, February 28, 2017.

At 4:20 p.m., it was moved by Peterson and supported by Tuomela to adjourn the meeting.  The motion carried and the meeting was adjourned.
