Resolution 17-98 Quad Cities Alliance
SUPPORTING THE QUAD CITIES ALLIANCE GROUP EFFORTS TO FURTHER EXPLORE THE NEED FOR EXPANDED PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SERVICE WITHIN THE QUAD CITIES AREA.
WHEREAS, The Quad Cities Alliance Group is formed to foster cooperation, gain efficiencies and economies, by exploring projects for the mutual benefit of the Quad Cities area; and,
WHEREAS, The Alliance has identified perceived limitations of the current public transportation system, during discussion with stakeholders and town meetings; and,
WHEREAS, The Alliance has formed a task force of stakeholders representing seniors, disabled, low income, students, economic development, health care, officials from each of the Quad Cities, welfare-to-work providers, and public transportation providers; and
WHEREAS, The task force has developed a needs assessment survey for distribution to the aforementioned groups and general public; and
WHEREAS, The needs assessment will form the basis for any recommended service expansion within the Quad Cities area; and
WHEREAS, Town meetings will be held to discuss any potential service expansion and associated costs.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF MOUNTAIN IRON, MINNESOTA, that it supports the efforts of the Quad Cities Alliance to further explore the public transportation needs of area residents and the potential of expanded service.
