Mountain Iron Planning and Zoning Commission
March 28, 2022
Pro-term Assumed Chairman Barb Fivecoate called the Planning & Zoning meeting was called to order at 6:35p.m. with the following members present: Barb Fivecoate, Margaret Soyring, Mayor Peggy Anderson and Jerry Kujala, Zoning Administrator. Absent members: Jim Techar and Steve Hunter
It was moved by Soyring and seconded by Fivecoate to approve the minutes of the August 23, 2021 meeting as presented. The motion carried with Techar and Hunter absent.
Public Forum:
- Kelsey Redland-Kladivo at 5492 Diamond Lane, Mountain Iron addressed the board concerning having a vinyl fence installed on her property. She was questioning whether vinyl and chain link are acceptable. She had prints of what she was considering. The commission told her there was no problem and that she has to apply for a building permit.
- Dan Stanzell at 5453 Diamond Lane, Mountain Iron addressed the board about constructing a 16×24 shed on his property. Because of covenants in Unity Addition this in not allowed.
- Ed Roskoski inquired if the City Attorney had made any recommendations on changes in the water run off Ordinance, which is the Sump Pump Ordinance. This Commission had no knowledge of this, and Jerry Kujala said he has not heard anything from the Attorney.
Zoning Administrator’s Report:
- Three houses are being built in Woodland Estates. One has had final inspection, one is pending re-inspection and the third one is not completed yet.
A public hearing is scheduled for April 25, 2022, concerning a Conditional Use Permit for a Transitional Housing Facility in downtown Mountain Iron. More information will be forthcoming.
At 7:50p.m. it was moved by Fivecoate and seconded by Soyring to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried with Techar and Hunter absent.
