Public Safety & Health Board Meeting Minutes for March 30, 2016



WEDNESDAY, MARCH 30, 2016   6:30 p.m.



Call to Order:

The meeting was called to order at 6:34 p.m. by Chairman Al Stanaway.  Members present were Gary Skalko, Steve L. Hunter, Al Stanaway, Brittany Chopp and Steve Skogman. Also present was Fire Chief Greg Chad and City Administrator Wainio.


Approve Minutes:

Motion by Skalko and supported by Skogman to approve the minutes of the January 27, 2016 meeting.  Motion passed 5 – 0.


Committee Reports:

Fire Chief/ First Responder Director Greg Chad gave a report of the fire calls and responder’s calls for the month.  They have 7 first responders with possibly three more coming.  They will be testing for Fire Fighters on April 6th. The board requested monthly reports on calls from the Fire Chief.



The correspondence from Sgt. Backman concerning Parkville Road was discussed.


Skogman moved and Skalko supported to move ahead with the agreement with Nixle for the citizen notification system.  Motion carried 5-0.


Table Top follow-up was discussed and the follow up of the recommendations.  Skogman moved and Hunter seconded to establish a sub-committee to follow-up on the recommendations with two board members Fire Chief, Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Management.  Motion carried 5-0.


Radio proposal was discussed.  Being a non-budgeted item the board tabled this matter to look for alternative funding.


Skogman moved and Skalko seconded to recommend approval of Ordinance Number 01-16 to the City Council.  Motion carried 5-0.



Motion by Hunter and supported by Skalko to adjourn the meeting at 8:04 p.m.  Motion carried on a 5 – 0 vote.  Meeting adjourned.
