PARK AND RECREATION MEETING

Wednesday, February 28, 2017

5:30 PM

The meeting was called to order by Jerry Kujala at 5:30 p.m.  Board members present: Jerry Kujala, Steve Hunter, Tara LaMourea and Joe Prebeg.   Absent: Natalie Pankratz-Leff, Gerry Golobich and Dennis Benz.  Also present were Craig Wainio, City Administrator.

Moved by Hunter supported by LaMoutea to approve the minutes of the November 29, 2017 meeting.  Motion carried unanimously.

LaMourea discussed the Glove Club status and the board discussed possible directions for the organization.

Prebeg moved and LaMourea supported to dedicate the ball field at the West Two Rivers Campground as the “Mirium Kailanen Field”.  Motion carried unanimously.

Prebeg moved and Hunter supported to increase the contract amount for the West Two Rivers caretakers by $50 per week.  Motion carried unanimously.

Wainio presented the idea for an RFP to do a master park plan for the South Grove Recreation Complex, the consensus was to move ahead with the RFP

Prebeg discussed the meeting with members of the Merritt Day Committee, the fact that Yuccas no longer wants to be part of it and that she will be retiring.  The board indicated that they would like Yuccas’s input.

A volunteer banquet was discussed by Prebeg.

It was moved by Prebeg and Hunter supported by to adjourn at 6:15 p.m.  Motion carried unanimously.
