Meeting Minutes for October 23, 2000
MOUNTAIN IRON CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE-OF-THE-WHOLE MEETING
Mayor Brunfelt called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. with the following members present: Curt Piri, Joe Matanich, Stephen Skogman, Carolyn Olsen and Mayor Mitchell Brunfelt. Also present were Planning and Zoning Members: Ray Saari, Armiida Rudlong, Jim Giorgi, John Rioux, Larry Lindholm and Chairperson Steve Giorgi. Also present were: Craig J. Wainio, City Administrator and Jerry Kujala, Zoning Administrator.
The Mayor began the meeting by explaining that the meeting was called to address communication concerns between the Planning and Zoning Commission and the City Council.
Councilor Olsen, Planning and Zoning liaison, addresses the issue expressing the expectations, communications and frustrations of the Planning and Zoning Commission to the Council. Chairperson Giorgi also expressed an interest in obtaining various communications including City Attorney opinions ordered by the City Council on Planning and Zoning matters.
In relation to permit applications it was noted that more complete front-end information gathering and procedures need to be improved. Also was discussed the planning of the community and how it relates to the zoning and Council involvement in the zoning issues. The HRA also needs to be included in any discussions.
The Mayor adjourned the meeting at 6:35 p.m.
