Meeting Minutes for March 08, 2000


Mayor Mitchell Brunfelt called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. with the following members present: Carolyn Olsen, Stephen Skogman, Joe Matanich, Curt Piri, and Mayor Mitchell Brunfelt. Also present were: Craig J. Wainio, City Administrator; Karen Luoma, Library Director; Danielle Herzog, Tara Wainio, Joanne Dall, and Jackie Jenko from the Library Board.

The first issue for discussion was the part-time Library helper and janitor for the Library and the number of hours worked and needed. The City Administrator indicated that a letter had been sent to the Bureau of Mediation Services to make a ruling in matter with regard to PELRA. All decided to wait until ruling is received and proceed from that point. Discussions are to take place between the Library Board and the Personnel Committee regarding Library staffing and possible job descriptions once a ruling is received.

The second issue of discussion was the future of the current Library building. Mayor Brunfelt explained that no action had been taken by the City Council with regard to the Library building. It was agree that something needed to be done with the Library to comply with the ADA. The Committee of the Whole will recommend to the City Council at their next meeting to authorize staff to obtain separate ADA compliance cost estimates and general remodeling cost estimates for the current Library. These estimates are to be part of the overall cost analysis of the Library building.

Authorization to obtain cost estimates will be a part of the next City Council meeting agenda.

At 7:15 p.m., Mayor Brunfelt adjourned the meeting.
