Meeting Minutes for March 06, 2001

MOUNTAIN IRON CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE-OF-THE-WHOLE MEETING

Mayor Brunfelt called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

Present: Mayor Brunfelt, Councilor Skogman, Councilor Matanich, Councilor Prebeg, and Councilor Roskoski. Library Board Members were Baudhuin, Wainio, Dall, Majetich, Kostich. Also present was City Administrator Craig J. Wainio and Library Director Karen Luoma.

Mayor Brunfelt explained the purpose of the meeting was to review the Mountain Iron Public Library and how to comply with the American�s with Disabilities Act.

Mr. Mike Thomas, Architect, review the ADA compliance and renovation costs for the current Library facility.

Representatives of the Arrowhead Library Services explained their desire to locate in Mountain Iron at the current Niska/Johnson property.

Mr. Thomas then reviewed the ALS proposal with the City of Mountain Iron in regards to attaching a new library to the proposed ALS Project.

Mayor Brunfelt explained that tonight�s meeting was to discuss the following: renovate the current facility, partner with ALS to build a joint facility or to build a new stand-alone library.

The pros and cons to each were reviewed and Councilors and citizens in attendance voiced their feeling on each issue.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m. by Mayor Brunfelt.
