MOUNTAIN IRON CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE-OF-THE-WHOLE MEETING

Mayor Brunfelt called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. with the following members present: Curt Piri, Joe Matanich, Stephen Skogman, Carolyn Olsen and Mayor Mitchell Brunfelt. Also present were Planning and Zoning Members: Ray Saari, Armiida Rudlong, John Rioux, Larry Lindholm and Barb Fivecoat. Also present were: Craig J. Wainio, City Administrator.

The Mayor began the meeting by explaining that the meeting was called to address a variety of issues with the Planning and Zoning Commission and the City Council.

The first issue addressed was the rezoning of certain properties from Rural Residential to Urban Residential Sewered. Differences between the classifications and the effect they would have on current owners were discussed. Planning and Zoning is to provide a map of the effected areas to the City Council for review and comment before proceeding further.

Home Businesses in Urban Residential Sewered area were discussed, focusing on the elimination of the Home Business Conditional-Use provision of the City Code. Enforcement of the current provision was discussed as a Zoning Administrator function. Specific instances were discusses, such as Grove Studios, Tim Anderson and Berglund. Consensus was for the elimination of the Home Business provision.

Lastly, blight issues were addressed, specifically the enforcement and remedies available to the City for blighted areas. The process was presented and defects were outlined.

The items were to be placed upon the upcoming City Council meeting agenda for further discussion and possible action.

The Mayor adjourned the meeting at 8:27 p.m.
