MINUTES
MOUNTAIN IRON CITY COUNCIL
July 5, 2022
Mayor Anderson called the City Council meeting to order at 6:30p.m. with the following members present: Councilor Ed Roskoski, Julie Buria, Joe Prebeg Jr. and Mayor Peggy Anderson. Also present were: Craig Wainio, City Administrator; Tim Satrang, Public Works Director; Anna Amundson, Library Director/Special Events Coordinator, Amanda Inmon, Municipal Services Secretary; Al Johnson, City Engineer; and Grant Toma, Sheriff’s Department.
It was moved by Prebeg and seconded by Buria that the consent agenda be approved as follows:
- Approve the minutes of the June 20, 2022 regular meeting as submitted.
- That the communications be accepted and placed on file and those requiring further action by the City Council be acted upon during their proper sequence on the agenda.
- To acknowledge the receipts for the period June 16-30, totaling $974,927.00 (a list is attached and made a part of these minutes),
- To authorize the payments of the bills and payroll for the period June 16-30, totaling $446,403.40 (a list is attached and made a part of these minutes).
The motion carried.
Public Forum:

The Mayor reported on the following:
- Recently toured Water Treatment Facility, congratulations to Tim Satrang, Director of Public Works and crew, recipients 2022 Rural Water Association Achievement Award
- Big thanks to Anna and staff for the great 4th of July parade celebration and activities afterwards

It was moved by Prebeg and seconded by Buria to approve Pay Request No. 6 – for the Proposed Well #3, Bid Package 2 project in the amount of $11,875.00, to TNT Construction Group, LLC, Grand Rapids, MN. This amount includes a 5% retainage. The motion carried on roll call vote (4:0).
It was moved by Roskoski and seconded by Buria to accept the recommendation of the Planning & Zoning Committee and approve the Conditional Use Permit for Barry Rosier for the use of two shipping containers used as accessory structures at Parcel Code 175-0070-01247, Mountain Iron. The property is legally described as follows:

It was moved by Buria and seconded by Prebeg to accept the recommendation of the Planning & Zoning Committee and approve the Variance Permit for Kevin Aubin is for the installation of a garage located 5ft from the property line, not the required 50ft set back, at 4850 Butler Road, Mountain Iron. The property is legally described as follows:

The motion carried.
It was moved by Buria and seconded by Prebeg to approve Ordinance #01-22; Amending Chapter 115 of the Mountain Iron City Code (a copy is attached and made a part of these minutes). The motion carried (4:0).
It was moved by Roskoski and seconded by Buria to authorize City Staff to purchase a 40ft new Connex storage container for storage from Any Way You Want It Storage, for the price of $5,900.00 plus $150.00 for delivery/travel, to be placed at the City Garage. The motion carried (4:0).

At 6:50p.m., it was moved by Prebeg and seconded by Roskoski that the meeting be adjourned. The motion carried.
