Mountain Iron Economic Development Authority
Meeting Minutes
April 4, 2018
A meeting of the Mountain Iron Economic Development Authority was called to order by Barb Fivecoate at 5:34 p.m. with the following members present: Al Stanaway, Peter Zattoni, Barb Fivecoat, Mary Jacobsen and Sue Tuomela. Absent members: Mary Jacobsen, Bob Voss and Andrea Wilson. Also present: Executive Director, Craig Wainio and Gary Cerkvenik.
Tuomela moved and Zattoni seconded to approve the consent agenda. Motion carried 4-0 on a roll call vote.
Tony Mason and Alan Johnson were presented to propose a gun range facility in Mountain Iron. A $3 million project which would employ 12-17 people. The Board had concern over the location. Fivecoate moved to table and forward the project to Planning and Zoning and Public Health and Safety. Motion carried unanimously.
Cerkvenik updated the board on Heliene, possibility of a new hotel, possibility of new housing and the status of the old High School.
Wainio updated the board on the Iron Tykes project and issue the City is dealing with concerning the Heliene expansion.
Fivecoate moved and Zattoni seconded to install a sign at Woodland Estates. Motion carried unanimously.
Tuomela moved and Stanaway supported to adjourn the meeting at 6:47 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.
