Waste Water Department

The City of Mountain Iron Operates and Maintain a Wastewater Treatment System which serves that majority of the Urban areas of the City. Mountain Iron’s Treatment Facility is located adjacent to South Grove.

Treatment is through a mechanical plant with a capacity of 550,000 gallons per day. The average demand on the plant is 300,000 gallons per day with a peak demand of 1,200,000 gallons.

Waste Water Rates per month are as follows:

SEWER RATES APRIL 1, 2020

Residential: $20.00 per month service charge
$5.30 per 1,000 gallons water used

Commercial: $30.00 per month service charge.
$5.30 per 1,000 gallons water used

June, July & August water use based on the average use during January, February and March

No charges for any residential property that has been vacant for more than one month

Flat rates for unmetered customers will be based on the flat rate charged for water.
