Mountain Iron Economic Development Authority

Meeting Minutes

December 5, 2018

A meeting of the Mountain Iron Economic Development Authority was called to order by Andrea Wilson at 5:42 p.m. with the following members present: Sue Tuomela, Al Stanaway, Mary Jacobsen, Peter Zattoni, and Andrea Wilson.  Absent members: Bob Voss and Barb Fivecoate.  Also present: Executive Director, Craig Wainio and Gary Cerkvenik.

Tuomela moved and Stanaway seconded to approve the consent agenda.  Motion carried 5-0 on a roll call vote.

Cerkvenik updated the board on Heliene operating 2 shifts with 90 workers and plans to add 85,000 square feet.  Also about the abatement negotiations with St Louis County.  He also discussed the proposed solar development and requested a resolution of support for a grant application to the IRRRB concerning the solar project.

Jacobsen moved and Tuomela seconded to approve Resolution Number 05-18 supporting a grant application to the IRRRB.  Motion carried 5-0.

Wainio discussed alternate builders at Woodland Estates, Autism Clinic, solar, site development estimates, the IRRRB meeting where they moved funding from the hotel to the apartments.

Stanaway moved and Wilson seconded to accept the audit proposal from Walker, Giroux and Hahne.  Motion carried unanimously.

Tuomela moved and Jacobson seconded to open up Woodland Estates to other builders.  Motion carried unanimously.

Tuomela moved and Jacobson supported to adjourn the meeting at 6:20 p.m.  Motion carried unanimously.
