Mountain Iron Planning and Zoning Commission

January 26, 2026

Acting Chairperson Steve Giorgi called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. with the following members present:  Margaret Soyring, Al Stanaway, Barb Fivecoate, Bill Copeland, Zoning Administrator Jerry Kujala and Mayor Peggy Anderson.

Moved by Stanaway, supported by Fivecoate to approve the consent agenda with the addition of Officer Elections under New Business  and approve minutes of the October 13, 2025, meeting. Motion Carried

Bill Copeland was introduced and welcomed as a member of the commission.

Ed Roskoski spoke on dirt being placed on property off Highway 7 that has garbage in it and no permit has been applied or.

Michael Stahl appeared before the Commission with questions about building a 44 x 36 garage on his property on Garden Drive in South Grove.

David Carland addressed the Commission about a proposed business at 5470 Mountain Drive, Mountain Iron. He was advised to return with a detailed site plan with setbacks clearly defined.

Nominated:     Steve Giorgi – Chairperson

                        Barb Fivecoate – Vice Chairperson

                        Margaret Soyring – Secretary

White Ballot: Motion by Soyring, supported by Stanaway. All In Favor, Motion Carried

Moved by Fivecoate, supported by Stanaway to adjourn at 7:20 p.m.. Motion Carried
