Mountain Iron Economic Development Authority
Meeting Minutes
May 13, 2025
A meeting of the Mountain Iron Economic Development Authority was called to order by Barb Fivecoate at 5:04 p.m. with the following members present: Brad Gustafson, Corey Nelson, Steve Giorgi, Barb Fivecoate, Julie Buria and Alan Johnson. Absent members: Eric Monson. Also present: Executive Director, Craig Wainio.
Giorgi moved and Buria seconded to approve the consent agenda. Motion carried 6-0 on a roll call vote.
The Teamsters were present to discuss a BBQ event at Heliene
The meeting and discussed their proposal for the senior housing complex was discussed.
Gustafson moved and Buria seconded to terminate the Viking Coke Development Agreement, motion failed 2 to 4. Giorgi moved and Gustafson seconded to have NTS perform a Phase II study on the site. Motion carried 6-0.
Gustafson moved and Nelson seconded to approve the Housing Initiative. Motion carried 6-0.
Correspondence from the Planning and Zoning Commission was discussed Gustafson moved and Buria seconded to desert property remain Industrial and the debris shall be removed.
Fivecoate moved and Buria seconded to start work on a development agreement with Hancock Fab motion carried 6-0
Gustafson moved and Nelson seconded to adjourn the meeting at 6:25 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.
