012925 PR Minutes

The January 29, 2025, Parks and Recreation Meeting was called to order at 5:00 by Brad Gustafson. Members present: Brad Gustafson, Macy Saari-Nelson, Kristina Hawkins, Arin Marks and Dan Lind.  Absent: Jason Inmon and Casey Kitner. Also present Craig Wainio and Mayor Anderson. 

Saari-Nelson moved and Hawkins seconded to approve the April 24, 2024 meeting minutes.  Motion carried unanimously.

New Business:

Hawkins nominated Gustafson for Chair, Saari-Nelson nominated Marks for Vice-Chair and Marks nominated Saari-Nelson for Secretary.  Moved by Hawkins and seconded by Marks that the nominations be approved.  Motion carried unanimously.

The South Grove Recreation Complex Proposal from Bolton and Menk was presented. Lind moved and Marks seconded to recommend to the City Council that the proposal be approved.  Motion carried unanimously.

Gustafson moved and Lind seconded to recommend to the City Council that the Aikey’s be appointed as the caretakers for the West Two rivers Campground for 2025.  Motion carried unanimously.

Marks moved and Hawkins seconded that the Anns Acres rink be flooded for the 2025-2026 skating season.  Motion carried unanimously.

Open Discussion:

Playground issues we discussed such as the cracked dome in the downtown park, concrete sticking up West Virginia park and the wetness in the Anns Acres park.  The will have a couple of members go around to the various City parks and develop a list of recommendations for the Parks.

Motion was made by Saari-Nelson and seconded by Gustafson to adjourn at 5:21 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.
