Mountain Iron Planning and Zoning Commission
February 24, 2020
The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chairman Steve Skogman with the following members present: Jim Techar, Steve Skogman, Margaret Soyring, Barb Fivecoate, Jerry Kujala, Zoning Administrator and Councilor Prebeg. Absent members: Tim Johnston, and Steve Erickson.
It was moved by Fivecoate and seconded by Soyring to approve the minutes of the January 27, 2020 meeting. The motion carried with Johnston and Erickson absent.
No Zoning Administrator report.
Mark Phaneuf was present to discuss the issue of paving his driveway in Unity II Addition in Mountain Iron.
Mr. Phaneuf presented his side of the issue and answered questions from the Board members.
Jason Gellerstedt was present to discuss a structure on his property in Ann’s Acres that does not meet the required setbacks. He is going to notify the Board as to what his plans are from this point to correct the situation.
It was moved by Soyring and seconded by Fivecoate to recommend to the City Council that weather permitting Mark Phaneuf has until July 1, 2020 to meet the conditions of the September 27, 2019 letter from the Trenti Law Firm and provide a copy of the contract to have the work completed. That contract is to be made part of these minutes. The motion carried with Johnston and Erickson absent.
It was moved by Fivecoate and seconded by Techar to request an updated zoning map from the City Administration. The motion carried with Johnston and Erickson absent.
It was moved by Fivecoate and seconded by Techar to adjourn the meeting at 8:00 p.m. The motion carried.
