MOUNTAIN IRON UTILITY ADVISORY BOARD

MINUTES

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 28, 2016

The meeting was called to order at 4:15 p.m. by Chairperson Renzaglia.  Members present:  Reynold Renzaglia, Joe Matanich, Harvey Hellyer, Bruce Peterson, Susan Tuomela and Joe Prebeg, Council Liaison. Others present:  Michael Downs, Public Works Director, Tim Satrang, Lead Wastewater Operator, and Lisa Stevens, Accounting Technician.

It was moved by Peterson and supported by Harvey to approve the minutes of the November 1, 2016 meeting. The motion carried unanimously.

No one was present at the public forum.

The Director of Public Works reported electrical outages with a big snow storm during deer season other outages were from the Virginia power system. Where the equipment goes into the power plant, a squirrel went in there and caused the outage. Broken waterline reports, they were a month apart and 30 feet apart on the Mud Lake Road.

Tim Satrang, Lead Wastewater Operator, came back to discuss upcoming water and waste water projects that he felt are necessary. These projects were updating the Food & Fuel lift station, water tower repairs and painting and the rebuilding of 4 pumps, and the Parkville lift station needing pumps and valves replaced. Further discussion will take place on financing and order of importance for these projects.

Renny requested to get a summary of all the utility rates for the next meeting. (A copy is attached and made a part of these minutes)

No new business.

The next meeting was scheduled for Tuesday, January 24, 2017.

At 5:15 p.m., it was motioned by Harvey and supported by Peterson to adjourn the meeting.  The motion carried and the meeting was adjourned.
