MOUNTAIN IRON PUBLIC SAFETY & HEALTH BOARD
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 29, 2017 6:30 p.m.
The meeting was called to order at 6:38 p.m. by Chairman Al Stanaway. Members present were Al Stanaway, Steve L. Hunter, Steve Skogman, Margaret Soyring and Brittany Chopp. Absent: None. Also present were Fire Chief Knapper and City Administrator Wainio.
Skogman moved and Soyring supported to approve the minutes of the October 25, 2017 meeting. Motion carried unanimously.
First responders reported the number of call responded to and a need for AED’s. Fire Department noted its membership numbers are up and not many fire calls. Casey Kitner to be appointed as a firefighter.
E-Cigs were discussed. Hunter moved and Soyring seconded that E-Cigs should be treated the same as regular cigarettes. After discussion the motion was withdrawn.
City vehicle lights were discussed and it was the opinion of the Board that the vehicles should all have running light on during the daylight hours.
Skogman moved and Chopp seconded to recommend to the City Council that the positions of Fire Chief and Captain Safety Officer be posted as required by City Policy. Motion carried unanimously.
Skogman moved and Soyring seconded that the next meeting be held on January 24, 2018. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Hunter and supported by Chopp to adjourn the meeting at 7:40 p.m. Motion carried unanimously. Meeting adjourned.
