Mountain Iron Planning and Zoning Commission

September 24, 2018

Meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Chairman Steve Skogman.

Those Present: Barb Fivecoate, Steve Erickson, Tim Johnston, Steve Skogman, Margaret Soyring, and Jerry Kujala, Planning and Zoning Administrator. Absent Jim Techar

Motion by Johnston and supported by Soyring to approve the minutes of the September 10, 2018 meeting as presented. Motion carried with Techer absent.

Moved by Soyring and Supported by Fivecoate to recess the regular meeting and open the public hearing.

The purpose of the public hearing is to consider a request made by Donald Sauter, for a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) and Variance Permit to construct an accessory building that exceeds 900 sq. ft. as permitted by the Zoning Ordinance. The property is legally described as follows:

Section 23, Township 58, Range 18, Mashkenode Lake

Address: 5252 Shorthair Lane, Mountain Iron, MN 55768

Parcel Code: 175-0071-03180

There were no comments written or verbal.

Moved by Fivecoate and Supported by Johnston to adjourn the public hearing and return to the regular Planning and Zoning Meeting.

Moved by Soyring and Supported by Fivecoate to recommend to the City Council of Mountain Iron to approve the Conditional Use Permit and Variance for Donald Sauter. Motion carried with Techar absent.

Kujala reported one of the recipients of letters he sent out informing of ordinance violations did not respond and he would be issuing a ticket.  Perry Lasart was present to talk about a fabric structure on his property for winter storage. Kujala informed the Commission that Fairview Clinic will be expanding.

Motion to adjourn at 7:05 by Fivecoate and supported by Erickson. Motion carried with Techar absent.
