Mountain Iron Planning and Zoning Commission

August 12, 2019

Meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chairman Steve Skogman.

Those Present: Jim Techar, Tim Johnston, Steve Skogman, Margaret Soyring, Barb Fivecoate and Jerry Kujala, Planning and Zoning Administrator. Absent: Steve Erickson.

Moved by Fivecoate, supported by Techar to approve the minutes of the July 22, 2019 meeting. Motion carried with Erickson absent.  

Jeff Buffeta spoke at the open forum inquiring about conditional use permits and variances to build an attached garage exceeding 15’ feet height and more than 900 square feet in Ann’s Acres.

Jerry Kujala  reported that he has sent a letter to Richard Strumbell about a structure being built in his property without a building permit.

After considerable discussion about zoning changes for the apartment building proposed to be built in Rock Ridge the following motion was made:

Moved by Skogman and supported by Fivecoate to table the Apartment Zoning Request. Motion carried with Erickson absent.

After further discussion it was the decided that Kujala would set a public hearing for September 9 to rezone Lot 1 and 2 of block 1 and Lot 1 of block 3 to MF2.

Moved by Fivecoate, supported by Johnston to adjourn the meeting at 7:20 p.m. Motion carried with Erickson absent.
