Absent members: Shelby Petersen, Fire Chief Mark Madden, & the Sheriff. June 28th, 2023, minutes not turned in & no communications.

Public Forum:

A wall was hit at the firehall and there are rotting walls that need fixing.

Director of Mountain Iron Firefighter/ETM, Brian Hoag reported on the following: Wants to outfit the 1st responders’ team.

The use of AED’s is not enough in their vehicles. There are only 9 AED’s and 7 medical bags. Would like approval here and then go to the council, now that it is outlined. There are also only 5 out of the 9 AED’s that are green. Would like to cover the east side of Spirit Lake Rd.

Next scheduled meeting rescheduled for October 2sth, 2023, at 6:00 pm.

Health Issues:

A woman is feeding pigeons and squirrels and wants the city to pay to clean off her roof. There also were 10 skunks as well and they were all trapped, they also want the city to pay for that.

Curious if the Tornado sirens go off every 1st Wednesday of the month.

  • Check with Tim Satrang or Craig Wainio and check when they were last tested as they were installed 10 years ago.
  • Virginia Fire Department controls our tornado sirens. A 5thwheel camper is stored on city land.

Asked if the City of Mountain Iron has a contract with The Humane Society for loose dogs. There are 2 very aggressive dogs that have bitten 2 people and chased people in their houses on Park Drive in South Grove.

  • City has a contract with The Humane
