Mountain Iron Planning and Zoning Commission
April 22, 2024
Chairperson Jim Techar called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. with the following members present: Margaret Soyring, Barb Fivecoate, Al Stanaway, Steve hunter Lauren Buffetta, Steve Hunter, Mayor Peggy Anderson and Jerry Kujala, Zoning Administrator.
It was moved by Fivecoate and seconded by Stanaway to accept the Consent Agenda and minutes of the January 22, 2024, meeting. The motion carried.
Public Forum:
- Ed Roskoski questioned if Mr. Kujala had contacted Walmart about a shipping container that appears to be permanent, Mr. Kujala stated he had not but would
- Tom Nikolanci inquired about moving a garage onto his property on Unity Drive
- Tom Schoenstedt inquired about buying two adjourning lots on Bluebell Avenue, and being able to put a seasonal camper on one lot for several months a year
It was moved by Fivecoate and seconded by Buffetta to recommend the City Council approve the CUP for Sandvik. The CUP is for the use of a shipping container to be used as an accessory structure, which is to be moved to the east side of the fence. The property is legally described as follows:

The motion carried.
- Bob Hamalainen attended the meeting and agreed to move the shipping container from the side of the building
Mr. Al Stanaway encouraged the Commission Members to attend an informational meeting on June 20, 2024, from 5:00pm – 9:00pm at the Mt. Iron Community Center for the Intersection of 169 and 103
At 7:25p.m., it was moved by Fivecoate and seconded by Buffetta that the meeting be adjourned. The motion carried.
