Mountain Iron Planning and Zoning Commission

March 23, 2026

Chairperson Steve Giorgi called the meeting to order at 6:15 p.m. with the following members present:  Margaret Soyring, Al Stanaway, Barb Fivecoate, Zoning Administrator Jerry Kujala and Mayor Peggy Anderson. Absent: Bill Copeland and Karla Kintner

Moved by Stanaway, supported by Fivecoate to approve the consent agenda and approve minutes of the March 6, 2026 meeting. Motion Carried. Copeland and Kintner Absent

Zoning Administrator Kujala reported that a ticket has been issued for the fabric structure in Mountain Iron by the post office.

No one showed up to address the request for a variance for a sports dome at Mesabi Fit.

Chairman Giorgi reported that he attended the previous council meeting and asked the City Attorney for a report on the zoning matters turned over to him. Lindsay stated he has communicated with two of them and will forward the correspondence to the Commission.

Moved by Stanaway, supported by Fivecoate to request the city council proceed with the public hearing for the Mesabi Fit Dome. Motion Carried. Copeland and Kintner Absent.

Moved by Stanaway, supported by Soyring to adjourn at 7:20 p.m. Motion Carried. Copeland and Kintner Absent
