Mountain Iron Planning and Zoning Commission

March 9, 2026

Chairperson Steve Giorgi called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. with the following members present:  Margaret Soyring, Al Stanaway, Barb Fivecoate, Zoning Administrator Jerry Kujala and Mayor Peggy Anderson. Absent: Bill Copeland

Moved by Stanaway, supported by Fivecoate to approve the consent agenda and approve minutes of the January 26, 2025 meeting. Motion Carried. Copeland Absent

Ed Roskoski spoke on people complaining about the garbage piling up at 5700 Mineral Ave. and smoke from outdoor burning on Hwy 101.

Zoning Administrator Kujala discussed what should be done about the fabric structure in Mountain Iron by the post office. A letter has been sent but there has been no response. He will start ticketing the owner.

No one showed up to address the request for a variance for a sports dome at Mesabi Fit.

No one showed up discuss building a two family dwelling in a single family zone.

Moved by Fivecoate, supported by Stanaway to adjourn at 6:55 p.m.. Motion Carried
