Mountain Iron Economic Development Authority

Meeting Minutes

March 12, 2024

A meeting of the Mountain Iron Economic Development Authority was called to order by Barb Fivecoate at 5:00 p.m. with the following members present: Peggy Anderson, Corey Nelson, Alan Johnson, Barb Fivecoate and Brad Gustafson.  Absent members: Julie Buria and Kim Koebensky.  Also present: Executive Director, Craig Wainio.

Fivecoate moved and Anderson seconded to approve the consent agenda.  Motion carried 5-0 on a roll call vote.

Viking Coke, TIF Resolutions and Development Agreements, Enterprise Drive Northeast and Superior Fuel was discussed. 

Kootasca and Tapestry housing developments where discussed along with the TIF that is being proposed for the site.

Teresa Appelwick, President of the Laurentian Chamber of Commerce made a presentation on the Minnesota Housing Partnership – Quad City Cohort and the Mainstreet America program.

Gustafson discussed the Boarder to Boarder Broadband program and the Northland Learning Center.

Fivecoate discussed the proposed spaceport by Hoyt Lakes.

Anderson moved and Fivecoate seconded to adjourn the meeting at 6:00 p.m.  Motion carried unanimously.
