Mountain Iron Public Safety and Health Board Meeting
February 28, 2024 6pm
Alan Stanaway called the meeting to order at 6:04pm with the following members present; Steven Hunter, Alan Stanaway, Councilor Julie Buria, Mary Luomanen, Caitlyn Rinell, Mayor Peggy Anderson.
Absent Members: Shelby Peterson
Consent Agenda:
- Minutes from January 24, 2024; Motion by Mayor Anderson, Second by Councilor Julie Buria; motion carried
Public Forum :
None
Committee and Staff Reports:
Communications: Handouts on Fire Department Fitness Reimbursement Policy, Firefighter Selection Policy, Policy for Appointment of Fire Department Officers, First Responder Selection Policy, and Policies, Procedures, and Standard On-Call Mountain Iron Fire Department & First Responders. Mark updating to City Council and Personnel Committee.
Motion by Councilor Buria to send updates to council to decide at second council meeting, to city attorney. Second by Mayor Anderson; motion carried.
Sheriff’s Report: None
Old Business:
Firefighter Fitness Reimbursement; Craig Wainio to City Council, work in progress ; includes Anytime Fitness.
New Business:
New Officer Nominations; deferred to next meeting (Missing Shelby Peterson today.)
Open Discussion:
Board member Caitlyn Rinell discussed unseasonable dry weather and potential of burn bans. Board discussed from to work with Mt.Iron Fire Dept. and County and State.
