Regular Meeting Minutes
Monday, May 3, 2010
A meeting of the Mountain Iron Economic Development Authority was called to order by member Allen Nelson at 5:30 p.m. with the following members present: Allen Nelson, Barb Fivecoate, Andrea Wilson, Alan Stanaway and Mary Jacobsen. Absent: Tony Zupancich (joined meeting at 5:33 p.m.) and Bob Voss.
Consent Agenda: A motion was made by Alan Stanaway and supported by Barb Fivecoate to accept the consent agenda with an addition to the Forest Grove Covenants that vinyl fencing also be acceptable. Motion passed unanimously by roll call vote.
No Public Forum
President Tony Zupancich joined the meeting at 5:33 p.m.
New Business: Solar Manufacturing Plant Update. Gary Cerkvenik, John Carroll and John Linn, CEO of Newport Partners, gave an informational update on a proposed solar manufacturing plant with Silicon Energy. Various funding was discussed along with a viewing of a power point presentation which will also be presented to the IRRB on May 4.
A motion was made by Allen Nelson and supported by Barb Fivecoate to authorize Craig Wainio to work with Silicon Energy to build a development agreement for a solar pv plant. Motion passed unanimously.
Wind Update: Gary Cerkvenik and John Carroll gave an update on the wind project in regards to MN Powers participation and also a land purchase.
A motion was made by Barb Fivecoate and supported by Alan Stanaway to authorize Gary Cerkvenik to negotiate a land purchase option with Bruce Kainz for a sale price not to exceed $350,000. The option would be exercised should full funding be obtained. Motion passed unanimously.
Unfinished Business: Craig Wainio reported that signage for Forest Grove should be completed soon. He also reported that he has not heard anything from the Fairview Clinic regarding their expansion.
A motion was made by Allen Nelson and Supported by Barb Fivecoate to adjourn the meeting. Motion passed unanimously.
President, Tony Zupancich, adjourned the meeting at 6:20 p.m.
