Regular Meeting Minutes

March 20, 2013

A meeting of the Mountain Iron Economic Development Authority was called to order by Barb Fivecoate, at 5:30 p.m. with the following members present:  Barb Fivecoate, Alan Stanaway, Andrea Wilson, Mary Jacobsen, Jeremy Jesch, Sue Tuomela and Bob Voss.  Absent members: Tony Zupancich. Also present: Executive Director, Craig Wainio.

A motion was made by Voss and supported by Jacobsen to approve the minutes of the January 23, 2013 meeting as corrected and approve the bills as presented.  Motion passed unanimously by roll call vote.

Wainio updated the Board on Rock Ridge, County Road 102, GE and land dealings with USS.

Jacobsen moved and Wilson supported to accept the Business Assistance Application with the addition of Tax Increment Financing and Tax Abatement.  Motion carried 6-0.

Voss moved and Tuomela supported to refund the entire lot purchase price for the property owners of Lots 11, 12 and 13, in exchange for the lots being deeded back to the EDA.  Motion carried unanimously.

The Board reviewed the purchase agreements between the EDA and USS for the County Road 102 project.  Voss moved and Tuomela supported to offer USS $2500.00 for the property for the retention pond.  Motion carried 6-0.

Fivecoate moved and Voss supported to table the potential land sale to Eichorns for an additional storage building until more information is available.  Motion carried 6-0.

Jacobsen moved and Tuomela supported to counter offer the Calvary Cemetery $70,000 for their property on County Road 7. Motion carried 5-1 with Voss voting no.

A motion was made by Tuomela and supported by Fivecoate to adjourn the meeting at 6:40 p.m.  Motion passed unanimously.
