Regular Meeting Minutes
August 6, 2008
President Tony Zupancich called the Economic Development Authority meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. with the following members present: Barb Fivecoate, Andrea Wilson, Allen Nelson, Alan Stanaway and Mary Jacobsen Absent: Bob Voss. Also present was Executive Director, Craig J. Wainio.
No public forum.
Consent Agenda: A motion was made by Barb Fivecoate and supported by Alan Stanaway to accept the consent agenda and to pay the bills as presented. The motion passed unanimously by roll call vote.
New Business:
Vi Newberg from Spring Creek Outfitters asked the E.D.A. for a loan in the amount of $25,000 to repair and improve the old Mountain Iron Fuel and Lumber Building. A motion was made by Allen Nelson and supported by Barb Fivecoate to provide a $25,000 loan to Spring Creek Outfitters through the EZ loan fund at a rate of 4%. Motion passed unanimously.
Committee and Staff Reports:
G Men: Craig Wainio reported that he is working with G-Men to resolve their wetlands issues.
Eichorn Land Purchase: Craig Wainio reported that the Eichorn Mini Storage would like to exercise their option to purchase Lot 2, Block 2, Nichols Park Addition. A motion was made by Allen Nelson and supported by Alan Stanaway to accept Resolution No. 05-08 approving a development agreement with Jeffrey L. Eichorn/Eichorn Mini Storage for land purchase in the amount of $19,200.00. Motion passed unanimously.
Phase I Study/Parkville Industrial Park: A motion was made by Barb Fivecoate and supported by Mary Jacobsen to order a Phase I Environmental study for the Parkville Industrial Park area. Motion carried with Allen Nelson voting no.
Comprehensive Plan Update: Craig Wainio spoke with the ARDC regarding beginning work on the EDA comprehensive plan. It was decided to begin work on this at the September meet. Craig will contact the ARDC.

Project Updates:
Park Ridge: The city of Mt. Iron has received a building permit application for the hotel.
22 Acres also has a purchase pending.
Communication: Benchmark Engineering completed a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment on 80 Acres atPark Ridge Road west located in the North ½ of the SW ¼, Section 11, Township 58, Range 18. No recognized environmental conditions were identified.
Open Discussion: Allen Nelson stated that he thought the Costin Group should be reporting to the EDA at least on a bi-monthly basis about any potential projects or progress. It was agreed by the EDA. A motion was made by Allen Nelson and supported by Tony Zupancich that Gary Cerkvenik be contacted with a request for bi-monthly updates to the EDA. Motion passed unanimously.
A motion was made by Allen Nelson and supported by Alan Stanaway to adjourn the meeting. Motion passed unanimously.
